So, against all odds, I was able to start making it into the gym. A co-worker expressed interest in meeting to play racquetball a few mornings per week before work. I thought I was going to die the first day. I had a hard time sucking in enough air. But it felt good to sweat. We went twice two weeks ago and just once last week since I took a mini-vacation the last half of the week. I like this little habit that is starting. Hopefully now I can pair it with some healthy eating. Today I made a pot roast with some roasted veggies and have leftovers to eat during the week. Oh, and the guys at work wanted to play some slow pitch softball and we have our first game tomorrow night. I am really hoping that I don’t pull a hamstring.

I had a decent week last week. I walked a few mornings and I did sit-ups and push-ups on the days that I didn’t walk. I didn’t meditate though. And I didn’t eat breakfast. I don’t believe that I ate too bad – at least not catastrophically bad.
I bought a new backyard pizza oven and have been experimenting with it. I know pizza isn’t the best thing to eat. But, at least I wasn’t eating out. Today was a relaxing first Sunday of the NFL season. I half-way watched football while I caught up on some minor chores around the house that I had been putting off. It was nice catching up.
I started readying the book “Call Sign Chaos” by Jim Mattis. I really like it so far. It seems like it is going to be a good book about leadership. It has been reinforcing some core principals regarding leadership for me.
I was craving a French dip sandwich tonight. I just about went to Arby’s to pick one up – but I instead made a cup of beef broth to sip on – and that seemed to scratch the itch. So I dodged a bullet there.
My goals this week are to make it into the gym twice and really focus on drinking more water at work. I also want to read this new book by the end of the month – so I will need to dedicate some time each day for that.
I have been having some limited progress. Having smoothies for breakfast about 2-3 days per week. Eating more salads and vegetables. Even walking a few mornings per week. I have noticed that I am getting some better sleep now. I had a small leak in my CPAP max and I got a new one and I have been getting more deep sleep and REM sleep – according to my fitbit – up to two hours each per night, which is a big improvement. I have been drinking a lot more water now also. I have been meditating a few mornings per week also. Now I just need to put it all together in a consistent manner.
I think I know one of the reasons that I have put on so much weight. It has been a protection mechanism against attention from women and the complicated relationships that I have had. Each relationship that I have had with a woman has been pretty messed up. And each time that I have lost a good chunk of weight, it has led to these weird relationships. Well, I think I am to a point where I may want to start looking again for the right woman to spend some time with. Historically, my problem is I went for the first girl that showed interest. I need to be willing to say no and check out some options.
